CRAIG, Christopher David, 47, passed away suddenly on June 23, 2018 of a heart attack. Born July 22, 1970 to Jean Elizabeth (Woerner) and David Lester Craig, Chris was preceded in death by his father, his mother, his sister, Melinda (Craig) Helsley and his uncles, James Joseph and Paul Anthony Woerner.
A 1989 graduate of North Garland High School, Chris did not have an easy life, especially with the recent loss of his sister and his mom, but his death was completely unexpected and heartbreaking. He will be especially remembered for his persistent desire to "do the right thing", even in the face of never-ending difficulties. He was generous to a fault, sometimes to his own disadvantage. He never had much money but gave away what he had. His friends describe him as "putting himself last". They also say that he had his faults, but "we loved him anyhow."
Chris was good at fixing things. He inherited mechanical skills from his father and worked variously in the Heat and Air-conditioning business, window installation and most recently at Eagle Suspensions in Durant, Oklahoma in a highly rigorous and technical position. When he worked, he really worked!
He inherited a love of animals from his mother and sister, and was particularly sentimental about his childhood dog, Bouncer. He also loved Star Wars, CHEERS, "Little Fidgety Things", eagles (the birds, not the musicians), Dr. Pepper, and, unfortunately, cigarettes. He was always trying to quit.
Chris is survived by his Aunt Kathy, his brother in law, Dean Helsley, his 2nd family Lynne and Timothy Shirey, his girlfriend, Salisha and his long-term friends, Tracy, Amy, Shelly and Ronnie.
Chris was like a big kid with a big heart. He will be truly missed.
