Jasper (Jack) Wilson Efird, Jr. of North Richland Hills, Tx passed away on February 18, 2025, at the age of 93. Jack was born on May 17, 1931, to Vada Eddins Efird and Jasper Wilson Efird, Sr in New York, New York. After prep school in Douglaston, NY, Jack graduated from Davidson College in 1954 then volunteered and served in the counter-intelligence unit in the US Army in New York during the Korean War from 1954 to 1956. Upon discharge, he attended and received his MBA from the University of Michigan in 1958. From there he studied international trade at the University of Oslo before returning to the US and working in Chicago, Il.
Jack worked for US Tire and Rubber company in Chicago for 3 years where he met the love of his life, Beverly Brattlund. In 1962, he moved to Florida and becoming a stockbroker for the remainder of his career. Jack and Beverly settled in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and had 2 sons, Robert Eric Efird and Scott William Efird.
Jack loved sports and traveling, and he visited 110+ countries and all continents during his lifetime. Beverly accompanied him on some of the trips but not all of them. Jack and Bev moved to Texas in 2013 due to Bev's medical needs. Beverly passed away in 2015 after 53+ years of marriage. After her passing, Jack continued his travels but mainly on cruise lines with his last trip to Antarctica in 2023 at the age of 91. He was also a huge sports fan and coached his sons in little league / senior league baseball and had season tickets to the Miami Dolphins during their Super Bowl years and to the Florida Marlins baseball club. He also attended many games for the Miami Heat, Michigan Wolverines, the Olympics, and the NY Yankees.
Jack was predeceased by his wife Beverly Brattlund Efird, sisters Vada Hartje and Mary Ann Higgins. He is survived by his 2 sons, Robert Efird and wife Rose, Scott Efird and wife Leslie; 6 grandchildren - Tyler, Colin, Jack, Garrison and wife Mary Kate, Leanne, and Meredith Efird; and one great granddaughter - Emerson Rhode Efird.
Services and internment will be held in Pompano Beach, Florida at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, North at a future date. A celebration of life will be held at Morada Meadow Lakes Retirement Community on Wednesday February 26th at 2pm.
