William D Wray, aka Bill, died on February 14, 2025, surrounded by his daughters and son-in-law. He was born in Washington, DC on March 5, 1954. He grew up and attended schools in Arlington, VA. After graduation from Yorktown High School, he headed to Blacksburg, VA where he earned a degree in Chemical Engineering from Virginia Tech.
His first job took him to Virginia Beach, VA, but soon the oil industry in Texas came knocking. He headed to Texas and never looked back. He settled in Corpus Christi first, but finally ended up in Houston where he worked for Arco and subsequent companies that eventually became Bayer U.S. He traveled to India and Korea, among other destinations, to oversee the installation and operations of chemical processes that he had designed.
After a long tenure with the industry, he left his employment with Bayer and became an Associate Professor at Lone Star College, where he taught Process Technology until he died of long ignored colon cancer.
He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by a wife and his two loving daughters, Amanda Goodwin (Zack) and Katherine London (Jason), as well as a sister and two brothers and their families. A private celebration of life, for the family, will be held at a future date. If you wish to remember Bill in a special way, the family has requested that you please make a donation to your local organization that deals with child abuse, such as Prevent Child Abuse America (PCA America).
